beautiful beach! car park gets full quickly but there is off road parking for free at the top of the hill if you're lucky. no sea glass but lots of pretty rocks, caves and great waves. dog friendly!
Phenomenal beach, we loved it here. Worth checking tide times as it's at its best at low tide when there are lots of caves and rock pools to explore. The rock pools are best for paddling and swimming, not many creatures to be found (or at least we didn't find any!). But great to explore nonetheless.
There's a small stream to the sea which was perfect for my toddler to splash in as she is scared of big waves!
The Chapel Porth car park is quite small and was completely full, so we parked up the hill at Wheal Coates car park which had plenty of spaces. It's not a long walk down from there, but steep. With a 2 year old we were grateful to have our carrier for her as there are some big drops and it was very windy! It was fun checking out the old mine on the way down to the beach.
The cafe on the beach was lovely - enjoyed the novelty of trying the hedgehog ice cream!
The most fabulous beach. Full of caves, rock formations and low tide pools deep enough to swim in. Big waves, clear water and an atmosphere all its own. Peaceful and relaxing. Surrounded by cliffs with Wheal Coates in view. Natural stream running down onto the beach, great for kids to play in. Walk the coast path up to Wheal Coates to see the old mine ruins
Great coastal walk from St Agnes to Chapel Porth.Stunning scenery and amazing views. The walk takes approximately 75 minutes and the terrain is nice.
At the beach is a great cafe serving delicious food and the best ice cream ever. You must have a Hedgehog ice cream.
Highly Recommend
Chapel Porth is a stunning Cornish Beach. There's a National Trust car park, cafe and toilets here. The beach is RNLI lifeguarded in season and the cafe is a delight, they have beautiful flowers and a decent menu, and they fry in cornish clotted cream!!!
Its worth knowing the tide times at Chapel Porth as the beach is tiny at high tide and massive at low tide. Please watch out for getting caught out by the returning tide.
Whilst the tide is in its well worth checking out the coast path walks on either side of the valley, youll be treated to amazing views and some hostoric cornish mine buildings.
This is a truly spectacular beach with caves, pools and the sea of course. There is so much to take in it's fantastic to be there. The car park is down a small road and it's not very big, but that's no bad thing.
I love this beach its so close to me that on a day off I will make a flask of coffee nd a saenwy and go there for a walk sit watching the sea from a cliff and just forget about everything.
Love it
Launched our sea kayak from here before exploring along the coast. Launching can be a challenge, depending on the tides and swell. Equally, safely getting back to shore, avoiding other swimmers and surfers in the narrow cove is also a challenge. The car park is provided by the National Trust - free parking all day for members.
